One of the most hyped vehicles this year, GMC had released a few teasers that allowed us to figure out that the new HUMMER is going to be reborn in 2020. As many might know by now, the new HUMMER is going to be a truck and will be electric.

Let's start from the inside. There is a new battery pack that, like Teslas, sit in the bottom of the truck. The Ultium cells are flat pouch-style cells, developed in partnership with LG Chem and GMC. These cells will be powering 3 motors that produce 625 horsepower and 7,400 lb/ft of torque. Yes, you heard that right, 7400 pound-feet of torque. But that is not all, and in the first edition trim, the 3 motors together produce a thousand horsepower and 11,400 lb/ft of torque. They have also introduced a new mode called 'Watts to Freedom', which unlocks all torque and power for drag races. It can propel itself to 100km/h in around 3 seconds. Yes, it is the worlds first super truck. But these wild numbers come with a price, for the 1000hp version, even with a larger battery, the range is only a meager 350 miles or 563 kilometers, whilst the competition such as the tesla cybertruck has got 500 miles or 800 kilometers of range.

The new HUMMER also has many off-road features that allow it to be the beast its predecessor was.

CRABWALK

This feature allows all of the four wheels to turn up to 10 degrees sideways to crawl out of a tight spot by moving diagonally. This feature utilizes the 4-wheel steering that I am going to explain next.

4-Wheel Steering

As you know, four-wheel steering allows all four wheels to turn while you steer either in the same direction or in the opposite direction, to enable it to handle better. This feature is probably necessary for a truck so big to maneuver in the tight corners or a small parking space. This is also helpful in offroad where you can turn tighter and also CRABWALK.

Full Underbody Armor

This truck has a fully covered underbody, similar to a sportscar but for a different purpose. This truck has many steel plates, rock sliders, and shields covering even the differential and battery pack to protect it from sharp rocks while off-roading.

Dynamic Ride Height

A combination of a capable fully adjustable suspension and some intelligent software magic, this truck can utilize the adaptive air suspension and sensors to enhance driving dynamics on-road and off-road. The truck can also lower itself by 2 inches for better entry and exit.

EXTRACT Mode

This feature uses the air suspension to lift itself up 6 inches in the air, for better off-road capabilities.

ULTRAVISION

The truck has a staggering 18 cameras strewn over the whole car that, using some intelligent stitching allows the driver to see under the car, front and back beyond the skid plates to detect any unseen rocks, and also can wash themselves if they get dirty.

Apart from these features the new HUMMER also has a 14-speaker Bose audio system, fully transparent and modular roof panels with an infinity roof. It also has GMC's own autopilot system, supercruise that is available in a subscription format. It also packs the popular GMC MultiPro, 6-way tailgate, 35-inch wheels with the chunkiest tires you can imagine, and a long LED bar stretching across the face of the truck that comprises of many small columns of LEDs. This allows it to show various animations while charging or when you walk away or towards it.

In short, this is a real beast packed with all the bells and whistles that can conquer any terrain. But this doesn't come for cheap, starting at $80,000 and going all the way over 112,000 dollars for the top trim which comes with the 1000 horsepower motors and other features.
